Today we continue our series looking at disciplines that bring freedom. As you get to know God and how he leads people into their plan, you will learn that he wants us all free. He wants us free from negative thought patterns and habits. He wants us whole body and soul not just for us but for others. Our lives are a testimony to God’s grace. He has saved us not just for ourselves. He has saved us not just from stuff but for stuff. If we are so bound by sin and destructive attitudes and habits we will never live out what he has saved us for. Today we sign up for our fast that begins next week. Fasting is an important discipline that increases the work of the Holy Spirit in us. Please join us we ask God to cleanse us so he can work through us.

Today we continue our series entitled, “Disciplines that bring freedom.” This time of year people evaluate their decisions and direction of their life. We all desire the good life. The good life includes a life of meaning, connection, and freedom. If we are not free in body, mind and spirit we are not free. Jesus came to bring freedom to our lives. Without self-control we can never have freedom. One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control. It should mark our lives. We will explore this fun topic today!

Thank you for participating in your role during our missions convention. Today we begin a new series looking at the life of Mary the mother of Jesus called “A Life of Courage.” Courage is the most needed characteristic in Christendom today. Mary displayed great courage in her life. She was willing to host God in her life — not just her body but her home. Because she hosted Jesus, we have access to God. God asks us to host him today. We are the temples of the Holy Spirit and God wants to show himself to the world through us. Courage has a personal, public and persevering quality about it. And true courage has love at the root.

Today is one of the most important Sunday’s of the year. Today is faith commitment Sunday. We decide today how we will participate with the Great Commission. God uses people who flow with God’s power and steward God’s provision. At the end of service, we will collect our faith commitments for the year. These enable us to support God’s work in every corner of the earth. We also welcome a special guest Bob Roberts. Bob has served God all around the world and as a pastor of a local church in Southern Michigan. He is also an adjunct professor at Northpoint Bible College in Grand Rapids.

Today we continue our Missions Convention by looking at a familiar passage in John 4. Jesus ministers to a woman at a well and he shares with her living water. Jesus then has a powerful conversation with his disciples. They brought him food, but Jesus was nourished by doing the work of bringing hope to people. He told the disciples to “see” to “look” the fields were white and ready for harvest. Today we face a world where many have never heard and we bear the responsibility to bring the gospel to them. They are inconvenient and often hostile yet they are purchased of God. Are we ready to pray, give and go?
